This year, the GLEAMNS Youth Leadership Program partnered with the GLEAMNS GEMS Program (formerly known as the GLEAMNS Summer Career Exploration Program) in efforts to expand summer job training opportunities to students. Seven YLP students were dual-enrolled in the GEMS Program, which overall consisted of twenty-five Greenwood students from ages 15-17. The program began on June 11, 2018, and for six weeks, the youth were given the opportunity to explore different career areas, earn money, gain employability skills, and get insight on preparing for higher education.

On July 25, 2018, the GEMS Program ended with an "End of Summer" Celebration, where students shared their program experiences. Depending on their particular work assignments, students conducted their presentations during the following categories: Customer Service, Community Engagement, Education, and Medical. Overall, this six-week collaboration between YLP and the GEMS program helped students gain valuable experience regarding the workforce and even higher education. Students were equipped with the tools they need to be self-sufficient, productive citizens in their community.
